Haiku Monday

It is haiku Monday and we are more than halfway through the Blogathon 2013! Today’s challenge is a haiku. A haiku is an ancient Japanese poem that have the syllables 5/7/5. Today I thought that I would write a haiku based on Psalm 121, a song of the ascents:

Psalm 121:1-4

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

This is my haiku:

The Climb

My eyes to the hills,
Knowing help comes from the Lord.
I can sleep but he will not.

I challenge you to create your own haiku based on your favorite psalm below.
